Just in case you were wondering where Megan got her love for the sport from, the answer is in her genes. Megan O’Malley comes from a family passionate about sports. Maybe that’s why she clicked with Chris Long, seeing as he too has the sports bug in his genes.
Megan’s father, Joe, was a professional baseball player. He was part of the Atlanta Braves roster in the late 1970s. Megan’s sister, Katie, also played college basketball during her years at Johns Hopkins University. His brother, whose name has not been revealed, followed their father and plays baseball. This sports virus extends beyond her immediate family, as she also has active uncles in sports.
As for her husband’s equation, Chris’ father is the famous Howie Long. Howie played defensively for the Los Angeles Raiders (now the Oakland Raiders) and became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Chris’ younger brother, Kyle Long, is an offensive lineman for the NFL’s Chicago Bears. Howie Jr., the third son in the family, works as a staff member for his father’s former team, the Oakland Raiders.
3. O’Malley is an Eagles fan
This should not shock anyone, knowing that her husband is part of the team. However, that’s not why she’s a fan of the NFL franchise.
Megan O’Malley was a Philadelphia stalwart long before she met Chris, before she went to high school, and probably before elementary school as well. In other words, she grew up flying the team flag and cheering for it, a claim that Chris himself confirmed.
Long said he let his contract deteriorate so he could become a free agent and seek to join a new team with no restrictions or conditions on signing the contract. Chris has always loved the city of Philadelphia, in part because his parents went to school there. But it’s hard to say that it was probably his wife’s love for the Eagles that led to the final nail in his decision to join Philadelphia.
